15 month check up

The past few weeks have been pretty rough on Kylah. She got a virus and ran a temperature of 103.7 for 3 days. That turned into eat infections that we tried to fix with amoxicillin. It did and it got better till 9 days after being on it , breaks out in hives from head to toe. Then the dr. put her on hydroxyzine b/c she was miserable!!!! It wasn't getting better so they put her on steroids. Needless to say the three of us didn't sleep for a few days. The good thing is we had a 15 month check up and b/c she had been so sick we didn't have to do shots!! yayayy!!! She has gotten so big lately. Weight- 23 lbs 55 % Height 29 1/2 in 21% Developmentally she is a 20 month old.

I love my baby girl!!!

On Tuesday we spent the afternoon at the Muncey and Chandler family hotel. The had a water park and it was so much fun. Kylah spent 3 hours sleeping and when she woke up she LOVED their pool.

Just wanted to share a few pictures of our day with the mermaids. Mindy surprised Kaitlyn (who is obsessed with them) with a trip to see mermaids and swim with them at the Aquarium.

A few weeks ago Micka came down New York for some family time. This is her boyfriend Christoph he is also a dancer and is from Australia. We had a great time with them!

She is now in the middle of the road in everything. She had one shot and did great! No fever or fussiness. Dr. Terry does want Kylah to see the Pediatric Hematologist at Children's. We go on May 1st. Because of my Blood clotting stuff. I'm not sure if they will test her but he said they would want to see her so ....I'll let ya know. Her developmental chart has her as 18 months! He said she was ahead in everything but teeth! She is working on it though. She now has her top front two teeth in and they are so cute!!! Sorry no pictures , I'll try to get one of them this week.

Last Saturday we dyed eggs for Easter. The package should have read "NOT recommended for a one year old." She wanted to eat eggs and drink the dye that was in the cups.

Kaitlyn on the other hand did very good. Her eggs were better than mine.

I wanted to start a tradition with Kylah that on her birthday. So every year we will go to Children's Hospital to donate toys, book, clothes, and things for parents too. I want her to grow up wanting to give back. So here is a start.

Children's has a little wishing pond and garden. It was so pretty.

So we tried.....

I just couldn't help it . It matched her dress. Thanks DeeDee for the backpack. We ended the day by going to church for the Feast of Love Service.

We took Kylah to the park since it was such a pretty day. We all had such a great time celebrating her b-day!

On wednesday I took Kylah to spend her B-day money and gift cards. Toys R Us has to be the sweetest department store ever!!! They found out we were shopping for her FIRST birthday day and the lady gave her a balloon, a gift bag with goodies, and announced over the intercom it was her birthday and the entire store yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLAH". To answer your question, yes I cried.

Also that day we turned Miss Kylah around!!!!! She loves it , Mommy, and Kaitlyn....b/c the dvd player. lol.

Kylah's first Easter Egg Hunt

Okay there is a lot of pictures but I couldn't help it they were so cute. Saturday we went to our church's Easter Egg Hunt. It was so nice out and the kids loved it.

Want to reminisce with Me?

One week from today Kylah will be ONE!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! I'm definitely having mixed feelings about it. Excited to see her grow and develop her own personality. On the other hand the obvious does bother me.......she IS growing and growing up!

Some of my favorite moments over the past year.

April -Our baby was born on the 9th. A very special day. Kylah was born a year to the day my Uncle Doug passed. No I don't think it was coincidence that she tried to come a few weeks early then decided to stay....Then I had a scheduled delivery date on the 10th....No I don't believe it was coincidence that she came a day early. She was meant to come on THAT day. I hope it makes that day a little easier. If possible.

May- Several exciting things happened this month. Michael graduated college.Kylah met her cousin Addie Pickel, and It was my First Mother's Day!!!!

June -It was Mike's First Father's Day!!! KK's 4th b-day

July- KYLAH STARTED ROLLING OVER, and celebrated her first July 4th.

August- We had a surprise Birthday party for Aunt Susan. We had a family trip to the famous "BIG ROCK".

September- Kylah helped us celebrate our 2nd anniversary.We got Kylah's ears pierced.She also got her first pair of high heels ( thanks to DD). Loved starting real food.

October-WOW she was 6 months then. Went trick or treating with all the family. She also started crawling this month....oh the days.

November-Kylah's first Thanksgiving. She said her first word...DADA. Kylah saw Santa for the first time....which she hated...Easter Bunny is coming soon we will see what she does?

December- One of my favorite months. This started a really fun age. Kylah had her first Christmas.

January- Kylah was trooper for New Years....didn't stay up the whole night but hey. She also got her first two teeth on the way to Nashville. She became a talker more this month too! Took some steps this month.

February-Kylah had her first Valintine...J-Money.She started walking this month....everywhere!!!!

March-She became obsessed with Sesame Street. Unfortunately she got sick for the first time. Finally warmer weather ...play time!

April - So far she has developed into the amazing little girl. She is HAPPY!!!!! That is one thing that you could always say about Kylah...She has been the best, Happiest, perfect ANGEL EVER!!! I can't wait for her Birthday party Sunday.

My baby is sick

Kylah started running a fever Saturday in the middle of the night. Sunday same thing a little cough no runny nose. By Sunday night still fever and more coughing. I decided to take her to the Dr. Monday. Well, she is now on her first round of anti-biotic. She has the croup and left ear infection. Dr. said we caught really early and she might get worse...well not worse but sound worse in the next couple days. Please pray that she starts feeling better soon. It is so sad she will be walking and just sway to the side and fall. She is a trooper though not terribly fussy. She still only weighs 19 Pounds! I hope she gets to 20 by her birthday so we can turn her car seat around!!

This was so sad. Mindy brought by stuff for Kylah's b-day party today and left KK in the car... well I guess she couldn't stand it and came to the window to see Kylah! Kylah wanted her and Mindy so bad. I can't wait till she feels better b/c it broke my heart.

I took Kylah to have her 12 month b-day pics on friday. This friday was much better than last week! Man its the simple things in life that make Mommy Hood easier. Like the Food City across from West Town mall has these cool buggies! If my Food City or Kroger has these have missed them. They have the car part up front not on the bottom !! Seriously considering shopping out there b/c of this feature. Or b/c of the train that runs throughout the store above your head, which Kylah loved as well!!!

So here is Kylah's Easter dress! We had to try it on a couple weeks ago to make sure it fits. It looked so cute on her and I think she liked it!

We went to Scott's Deli to eat lunch and this is what Kylah did!!! The sun was shinning on her and I think she just got warm and cozy!
Kylah LOVES Sesame Street. She has never really watched TV but when this comes on she will stand in front and dance and clap. It is so cute! Personally I love it too hehhe!

This is the Benn's version of "not me Monday". I titled it "Forget that happened Friday!"

*Forget that I was embarrassed when I couldn't stop my child from screaming while eating lunch in the middle of west town mall. Not crying just a shrieking scream.

*Forget all the looks I got from people who obviously have never raised a 11 month old independent diva!

* Forget that when lunch was over I put Kylah back her stroller she had messed her self, from TOP TO BOTTOM!!!!From her shoes to her hair!! (I guess that is why she was screaming)

*Forget the fact that I'm not the best diaper bag packer in the world and left an extra change of clothes at home.

* Forget that I had to spend $15 on a new outfit b/c of it. Yes I threw away what she was wearing b/c there was no way I was washing that out!

* Forget that I gave my daughter a bath in the sink at Dillard's , because it was in her hair!!!

But at the end of the day I still have the best life and the best daughter and I wouldn't change it for anything!

This past week was soooo pretty! My Papaw Hollis (who was a farmer) used to always say there are 2 pretty weeks in February. Well, we had one week so let's hope he was right for another. Mike and Varnell play flag football on Sundays. So since it was pretty Me and Kylah went to show our support. I couldn't pick my favorite of these pics. Today is my 24th Birthday!!! For my birthday wish , I wish I wasn't sick! I cooked dinner last night and gave Kylah some mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. She loved it.

9 month ckeck up

We took Kylah to her 9 month check up on Friday. It was a great visit b/c she is doing so good and NO SHOTS!!! But they did have to check her hematocrit and a lead test. Her hematocrit was great we will have to wait for the lead test. She didn't cry when they pricked her toe but she sure didn't want to fill the tubes.

WOW!!! She is now almost 1o months old. I'm so thankful for a happy baby! I couldn't ask for anything else!! She is perfect and happy. We are soooo lucky. So lately little things have been reminding me that my baby is growing up and making me sad. Changing out clothes in her closet to the next size.... Eating 3rd food......talking.....but now Gerber also thinks my kid is growing up. If you know about Gerber they have symbols to help guide you to what your child might be ready to eat. Well they sent me new coupons and Kylah's symbol is not a crawler anymore it is a toddler!!!!! No I don't think of her as a toddler but I guess Gerber does!
She is now playing patty cake......well they way she wants too!!

So Kylah was trying to stay up ALL day like a big girl but when Dwayne held her and started bouncing lightly she put her head down and was fast asleep. It was precious. Then the next morning she slept till 10:15!!! Me and Mindy went shopping friday morning real early so I was trying to get home to see them. When I got her they were still asleep!!!

Kylah slept through most of it. But she was so funny, when they played music she would bounce up and down. She did the same thing at church.

Sorry I'm so behind on my posting. For those of you who may not know, we got a great report back from the biopsy!!!! Thank the Lord! The Dr. said he hadn't seen a case like this is 8 years and didn't know how to explain it!!! Well thanks for all the prayers b/c it worked. He is feeling alot better! As long as he keeps feeling better I'm okay with not know what was wrong! He has to see the Dr. on Wednesday so we will see what he says?

Sunday was Thanksgiving with My side of the family at Aunt Susan's house! We had a great time and ate too much! But I'm so thankful for a great day with the Family! Love you guys!

I decided that I wanted Kylah to wear the dress Susan had made for her one last time. It was a little short but otherwise it fit great! Isn't she cute!

Update on Mike

I just wanted to give an update on Mike. He had is Biopsy of his kidney on Monday. They had to take two pieces b/c the first wasn't enough. He did really good, only a sharp pain in his back every once in while. Thank God it is over!! We got home from the hospital tuesday around 1:30. WE MISSED KYLAH!!!! I was away from my baby for 30 hours! TOOO long! I was so glad to see her. She was really good for my Mom! While at the hospital Mike would open up the lap top to see her! It helped! Well, we are supposed to get the result today??? I will try to post an update after work before we go to Nashville. Thanks for all the prayers!

Wow the past few weeks have been really slow. We have tried to look to lighter side of thing and have some fun! Rachel had this scarf at work,(Did I mention we could hang meat there its so cold)! We tried that scarf out in alot of different ways.....Rachel made my glasses out of pipe cleaners!!! Then I put tape over my mouth and she drew lips and a beauty mark on it. I then decided I needed lenses for my glasses(much thinner then my real glasses)!!!! Then Teresa drew my some eyes!!!! Is this not the funniest thing ever! Maybe I have a new costume for next year!

So then we cut a slit in my mouth and I put a dum dum sucker in there and we painted the end red!!!Before the madness!

This is hard to explain.... Tomorrow is Tammy's 40th birthday. Rachel bought all this gag stuff to decorate her station!! One thing was diapers. Teresa decide to try them on and make a bra out of the over the hill streamers!

Mike got good news yesterday, Doc says his liver enzymes are getting better!!! This means his liver is getting better so now we can concentrate on the kidneys!! This was great news to hear and a big relief! Needless to say I'm sooooo thankful! Another thing to be thankful for is his Tuberculosis test came back good!! Yeah!!!!Still waiting on a bunch of test results from the kidney specialist.I will update when I hear! Thanks for all the prayers and my Dad is also doing good!

Just wanted to give an update on my Dad's procedure. We just got back in the room and he is doing really good, just a little out of it. Well I have great news to report! NO BLOCKAGE!!! Doc said arteries looked good the only thing is his irregular heart beat. What good news! Thank God!! The dr. said he might send him to Vanderbilt to do a procedure that burns part of his heart and it would help the heart beat and get him off the medication. Which is the Dr. main goal, to get him off the meds. He is supposed to be released around 2. So thanks for the prayers!

Sorry I'm behind on my thanks. It's been a crazy week. A lot is going on with my family right now. But you still have to be thankful. I'm very thankful for Mike seeing a good Dr on Friday. He was very helpful and is proactive!!! Also my Dad is having an Angiogram done tomorrow so please be in prayer for him. I will post an update tomorrow after surgery. They might have to keep him overnight if they do a stint. So on a lighter note Kylah has started standing by herself now. It is so crazy!!! These are a few videos for the other night! I'm so thankful for my princess!!! She is greatest thing to wake up to in the morning and is so happy. I never knew how quickly a smile from your baby could change your mood!! She is mine and Michael's joy daily and we thank God she is here , healthy, happy and perfect!!!

I'm so thankful for my job!!! I work with wonderful people!I have a great boss named Rachel who is a great friend also the one who got me and the rest of us on my Twilight obsession!!! She started making these mini Christmas trees last year . So, I had her make me tons of them last year for my all my Aunts, Mom, Mindy, so on.... I gave them out at Thanksgiving so they could use them before Christmas. They are so cute and she makes them out of coat hangers. She does all different colors and themes. She did this one for Kylah for her room and is all pink! I love it and Kylah does too!! She is selling these trees for $25.00, if anyone would like to buy one please send a comment and I will help get in touch with her! Papaw Mike is back in town!!!!! My Dad has made it back into Knoxville for....well we aren't sure how long. But we are excited to see him! I'm thankful that he was able to come home to see us and that he is out of Vicksburg(a town he hated). Thankful that the hurricanes in the south didn't bother him!!!

Sunday was interesting trip!!! Summer, Rusty, Addie, Mike, Me, Kylah, Mindy, and Kaitlyn all went to Bass Pro to see Santa. Well, we get there and there was people everywhere. Make a long story short Santa was filled up....An impatient lady gave Rusty a pass for the 7:00 picture taking. We ended up doing all three girls with Santa. He was amazing! Thanks to the unknown lady!!

We had great Halloween last friday! We started the day off by going to Tinsel and Treasure with Summer, Addie, Aunt Susan, Steph, and Grammy! No one bought anything but hair bows for the girls!!

Last week Nelsie, Robin and Mike came in for a visit. I took vacation so I would be able to see them. We had such a great week. We went shopping, played cranium wow(my fav), ate at Susan's, did hair, went to the mountains, played rook, and went to Summer and Rusty's at midnight to watch Saw 1 till 3 in morning. Thanks again for a great visit!

I cannot believe my baby is 6 months old! Kylah went for her check up on friday and everything looked great! It was another shot visit :(. It was horrible she had to have 4 shots and an oral vaccine, we go back in a month for a booster flu shot. She had a hard time with the shots again. Friday night she couldn't sleep and had a temperature of 100.4. Saturday the temp. went down to 99.6. I wish they didn't bother her so bad. He said she look great!!! Good news. Her developmental test at first was 7 month 1 week old. Well, Mike said she could do something that I circled "no" to. So when we got back in the room we tested her and she did it so the Dr. said she was 8 month 2 week old level. Regardless she is healthy and happy and that is all that matters to me!

The Dr. suggested I start trying a sippy cup just to get her used to it. Well she did good but only got something out of it once. We will have to keep working it

He also said to try meats now. He said that most people think of meats as later food to start but that is one of the most hypoallergenic food you can eat. Made sense to me how many people do you know that is allergic to chicken? I don't know any! She liked chicken more than green beans!

Saturday Mike was taking Tylan to the game and Mindy said Susan had their tickets and weren't going to be using them cause they were leaving for Vegas!!! So me and my friend Teresa went! We had a good time even though Teresa knows very little about football(sorry Teresa). She was in the Carter Band in high school so needless to say she didn't really watch the games! We had great seat too!! Thanks Susan and Gregg for the tickets. Thanks Mindy and Mom for helping with Kylah! Teresa hadn't been to the game since 1997. We had such a great time at the movies. The movie was very good. I have been able to recommend it to several people that I hear talking about their rocky marriage. I hope that this movie will start a "fire". Meaning I hope the word will spread like a fire and peoples marriages will be saved or their lives will be because of it! Thanks again for the tickets!

I heard from the dermatologist this morning. Whenever I answered the phone I knew it was them and I got a huge lump in my throat. I was thinking....I'm not supposed to hear from them if everything is fine. Well, they said the mole was a "Spitz Nevus." It is benign!!!! Thank the Lord! They want to remove the rest of it because it can grow and branch off like a tree. I go on October 2nd to have it removed. She said I would have a 2-3 stitches and that's it! I researched it on-line and it said that it is commonly confused with melanoma b/c the way it looks. So I guess that's why my Dr. said it was "funky." Thanks for all the prayers.

She did so good, she cried for like 1 minute after and then she was fine!

I gave Kylah sweet potatoes for lunch today! She loved them! The Dr. said she wouldn't make some disgusted faces when she first starts out eating veggies, or she might only eat a few bites. Well, not Kylah she ate all of it and happy to do so. No weird faces, no spitting it out, I was prepared to buy a spiting shield hahha! I'm so proud of my good eater! I hope all new foods goes this well!

Just wanted to ask everyone to pray for me. I went to the dermatologist today to have a spot on my leg looked at. Well, in her words she said "it is a funky looking guy." I'm praying it is nothing but a crazy mole that popped up out of nowhere a couple years ago. She numbed it and scraped it off and sent it off to the lab. I will know the result next week and I will let everyone know what it was. Thanks for the prayer!

We took Kylah to the Dr. today. It was supposed to be just for a weight check but I called to see if we could talk to the Dr. Her weight has went up exactly a pound 13 lbs 10 oz. Which is great news the Dr. was happy with they weight. Her height hasn't changed still at 24 in long. It was a relief that she had gained that much. I was concerned b/c the past few weeks we have had a hard time getting her to nurse during the day. The Dr. said everything was fine that at her age some babies want to play or to busy watching everything else instead of nursing. She told us to just keep doing what we have been doing and she will be fine. We started putting apples in her cereal in the morning and she loves them!! Thanks everyone for help she does like the apples!!!

No I didn't misspell the title! These are Kylah's new shoes from Aunt Mindy! They are baby high heels! They are the cutest thing ever! They are still a little bit big on her, so this winter she will be all in them!

Okay...So I know UT's first game didn't go like we planned but we had a good time visiting. Mike's dad and little brother Tylan came over to watch the game. It was so funny Mike was holding Kylah and when he yelled for the game she would cry. We told her she would have to get used to football Saturday's....and Sunday's....oh wait and Thursdays!!!!!!! We like football. She did get used to Daddy yelling but Mommy was holding her! Tylan helped me feed Kylah her cereal. He did so good.

I took Kylah's pool and I put her in it and let her float around with me ...She loved it!

This is another tradition. When I was a kid we used to camp at the Mountaineer camp ground in Townsend. This is a little place right beside the campground. Well they have the best ice cream! So we stopped and got some!

This was Michael's first time at "Big Rock" and the first time going off and I think he was a little cold! He had a great time! I'm so blessed!!!!

1st Zoo Trip!

GiGi and Papa were in town so we decided to go to the Zoo. We had a great time but Alfred said the London zoo was better...I doubt I ever go to London so Knoxville will have to due.

Kylah's favorite animal was "Ralfe". I didn't pose this picture she just fell asleep in the stroller holding him!! So cute!

I don't know if you can tell but that is a snake eating ....dinner! I had never seen anything like that! I have another picture of just the tail!!! But it was too hard to see it!

Kylah had a great day and was so happy!

Last week was GiGi's (Mike's mom) Birthday. Her and Alfred came in for a visit. We had such a good time with them! Kylah enjoyed her teether from Aunt Susan.

We went to Famous Dave's to eat dinner!
